This group of onshore and offshore visas are available for Partners (both opposite-sex and same-sex couples), Parents, Children and Relatives. Looking to migrate your loved one to Australia, you must meet the definition of a family member and have an eligible sponsor for the chosen family visa.

 
There are many options in this visa category that may be available to you. Depending on personal circumstances, some visas may have more advantages than others and accordingly, present a better prospect of an outcome.

Partner Visas

Partner Visa

A visa for parents who are sponsored by an eligible child to visit Australia for up to 5 years at a time (10 year maximum).

Prospective Marriage Visa

An offshore visa for applicants who are engaged to be married to an eligible sponsor, valid for nine months. Once married, they can apply for the onshore subclass 820 partner visa.

Partner Visa (Provisional)

An offshore provisional visa for spouses or de facto partners of eligible sponsors. The application must be combined with an application for a subclass 100 visa and the applicant must be outside Australia when the visa is granted.

Partner Visa

An onshore permanent visa for spouses or de facto partners of eligible sponsors. The application must be combined with an application for a subclass 820 visa, and unless specified exceptions apply, cannot be granted until two years have passed since lodgement. The applicant must be in Australia when the visa is granted.

Partner Visa

An onshore provisional visa for spouses or de facto partners of eligible sponsors. This must be combined with an application for a subclass 801 visa and the applicant must be inside Australia when the visa is granted.

Parent Visas

Parent Visa

An offshore permanent visa for eligible parents of eligible sponsors. The application must be lodged in Australia, and the applicant may be onshore or offshore, but the applicant must be outside Australia at the time the visa is granted.

Contributory Parent Visa

An offshore permanent visa for eligible parents of eligible sponsors, who pay a large second visa application charge before the visa is granted. Where the application must be lodged, and where the applicant must be for the grant depends on various factors.

Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa

An offshore temporary visa for eligible parents of eligible sponsors, who pay a lower second visa application charge than that for the subclass 143 visa before the visa is granted. The applicant may be in or outside Australia when the application is made but must be outside Australia when the visa is granted. The visa holder then has 2 years to apply for a permanent contributory parent visa and pay the rest of the second visa application charge.

Aged Parent Visa

An onshore permanent visa for eligible aged parents of eligible sponsors.

Contributory Aged Parent Visa

An onshore permanent visa for eligible parents of eligible sponsors, who pay a large second visa application charge before the visa is granted.

Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa

A visa for parents who are sponsored by an eligible child to visit Australia for up to 5 years at a time (10 year maximum).

Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa

An onshore temporary visa for eligible parents of eligible sponsors, who pay a lower second visa application charge than that for the subclass 864 visa before the visa is granted. The visa holder has 2 years to apply for a permanent contributory parent visa and pay the rest of the second visa application charge.

Child Visas

Child Visa

An offshore permanent visa for dependent children (as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Adoption Visa

An offshore permanent visa for children who are under the age of 18, overseas and are adopted by an eligible sponsor.

Orphan Relative Visa

An offshore permanent visa for eligible orphan relatives (as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Dependent Child Visa

This is an offshore temporary visa for dependent children of subclass 820 or 309 visa holders who are in Australia. Once the child arrives in Australia on the visa, they can be included in the parent’s permanent visa application.

Child Visa

An onshore permanent visa for dependent children (as defined) of eligible sponsors, including adopted children. (There is no onshore equivalent of the subclass 102 visa.)

Orphan Relative Visa

An onshore permanent visa for eligible orphan relatives (as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Relative Visas

Aged Dependent Relative Visa

An offshore permanent visa for eligible aged dependent relatives (which can include siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and first cousins as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Remaining Relative Visa

An offshore permanent visa for eligible remaining relatives (as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Carer Visa

An offshore permanent visa for relatives of eligible sponsors who meet the requirement to be a carer (as defined) of their sponsor.

Remaining Relative Visa

An onshore permanent visa for eligible remaining relatives (as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Carer Visa

An onshore permanent visa for relatives of eligible sponsors who meet the requirement to be a carer (as defined) of their sponsor.

Orphan Relative Visa

An onshore permanent visa for eligible orphan relatives (as defined) of eligible sponsors.

Aged Dependent Relative Visa

An onshore permanent visa for eligible aged dependent relatives (as defined) of eligible sponsors.
